The INCOSE 'Associated Systems Engineering Professional' (ASEP) is an exam based assessment of your systems engineering knowledge. It is based on knowledge of INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook (hyperlink) and no review of experience is necessary. You have one year from submission of application to complete the ASEP and once attained your ASEP accreditation is valid for 5years.

It is possible to upgrade from ASEP to CSEP if you are already a practising systems engineer with five or more years of relevant Systems Engineering work experience. The exam used for ASEP is identical to that for CSEP and applicants are required to provide their exam pass code as part of the process. In addition it will be necessary to provide evidence of your work experience validated by at least three suitably qualified references.

The INCOSE 'Certified Systems Engineering Professional' (CSEP) assesses both core Systems Engineering knowledge and relevant work experience. It comprises both a knowledge based examination and a written submission of the candidate’s Systems Engineering work experience(minimum 5 years) which should be validated by at least three suitably qualified references. You have one year from submission of application to complete the CSEP and once attained Your CSEP accreditation is valid for 3 years.
The INCOSE 'Expert Systems Engineering Professional' (ESEP) is targeted at senior Systems Engineering leaders with recognised systems accomplishments, who have substantial Systems Engineering leadership experience. The basis of this qualification is a formal interview with a team of accredited Systems Engineering Expert reviewers. Candidates for this level of accreditation would normally be expected to have 25 years of broad engineering experience with 10 or more years gained in the area of Systems Engineering.
