IfSE Journal – Practical Systems Engineering

We are delighted to announce a brand-new publication in the form of a full journal. The first edition will be published in Summer 2025, and a call has been issued to systems engineers to submit a 600-word Abstract for the opportunity to become a published author in the first IfSE publication.

The theme of the first journal will be: Agile in Systems Engineering.

Abstract

The deadline for submitting an Abstract is 9 December 2024. Abstracts have a 600-word limit. Priority in the review process will be given to those whose submissions are in line with the theme for this edition of the IfSE Journal.

Journal Format

Each annual edition will contain six papers, up to 30 pages in length, including references. All submissions must adhere to the defined template which will be sent to authors after submission of their abstracts.

All papers will go through the IfSE formal review process which is overseen by an editorial team. This is a double-blind review process, involving three expert reviewers per paper.

Although the there is a theme for each issue, contributions are welcome on any Systems Engineering topic. However, priority will be given to themed submissions.

Each edition will be themed and have a Guest Editor, and the journal will encourage submissions based on, but not limited to:

  • New applications of Systems Engineering
  • Systems Engineering research
  • Case studies
  • Lessons learned from applying Systems Engineering.

In line with our commitment to furthering Diversity and Inclusion, the journal will use our new accessible format.
